Google Vice President Vint Cerf is trying to look into the future and come up with an interplanetary Internet connection. Cerf worked for many years in collaboration with NASA and managed to develop some protocols for interplanetary communication. Because of the great distances between the planets are not even enough light speed for at least one of the known Internet protocols. A radio signal from Earth to Mars goes from 3.5 to 20 minutes.
Also, communication and rotation complicates planets. Therefore, a new protocol called Bundle, contains more voluminous data packet, which simplifies interplanetary communication. Because of the inability to use the domain architecture on Mars due to the frequent requests to the server, the command Cerf looking for a convenient alternative to the classical system. Currently, Mars is circling around a few satellites that provide network connectivity planet, which is used by the rovers.
